The Nykredit Architecture Award 2012 Ceremony was held Tuesday May 29th 2012 in Copenhagen.
A proud Minister for Culture Uffe Elbæk had skipped the difficult political tax negotiations in the national parliament to award COBE, Powerhouse Company and head of Danish Architecture Centre Kent Martinussen the three Nykredit Awards.
The grand ceremony took place in Nykredits’ head office in Copenhagen. Royal Danish opera singer Gert Henning Jensen, accompanied by a piano designed by Danish light architect Poul Henningsen formed the decor of the biggest architecture prize in Scandinavia.
Charles Bessard and Nanne de Ru received the Motivation Award 2012 with a loud applause and a nice word of the Minister to keep up the good work.
The international mindset, focus on linking building and research and a constant critical eye on the level of quality in the building trade is what made the jury point to Powerhouse Company, explained jury member Boris Brorman.
The Nykredit Architecture Award is the largest architecture prize in Scandinavia. The award ranks among the major architectural awards such as The Pritzker Architecture Prize and the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Prize.
