Dirk Jan Schaap (1984, The Netherlands) joined Powerhouse Company as a project architect in 2014, becoming an associate at the start of 2017.
Dirk Jan holds a Master of Science from TU Delft, where he graduated in 2010 and a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, which he received in 2007. For his undergraduate final project, Dirk Jan was awarded with the Vitae Bouwaward 2007 for best Dutch Architectural Engineering graduation project. Meanwhile, during his master’s studies, he took up the opportunity to study urban design at the National University of Singapore.
Between 2006 and 2014, Dirk Jan specialised in engineering large-scale utilitarian and healthcare schemes at Knevel Architecten in Amsterdam. He developed a clear vision on the role of the architect within the design and building process. Since joining Powerhouse Company in 2014, he has been responsible for numerous projects offices, interiors and refurbishment projects. Dirk Jan’s recent projects include the Asics and Danone headquarters in Hoofddorp, the refurbishment of the ING complex in Arnhem and the interior of a prestigious law firm head office in Amsterdam.
Dirk Jan’s extensive technical engineering knowledge and ability to manage complex processes are welcome additions to the management team at Powerhouse Company.
