Michael James Lucas

Michael James Lucas (1977, Australia) is a global citizen, architect and sustainability specialist. He grew up in Australia and Europe, before finally settling in The Netherlands after completing a Master of Science (Architecture) at Delft University of Technology.  He had previously received his Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) from the University of Portsmouth (UK).

Before joining Powerhouse Company, he worked on retail, re-development, inner city and heritage projects at Rijnboutt, for sustainability pioneer Thomas Rau and for school specialist LIAG Architects. In Australia, he worked for BVN where helped develop their sustainability template.

An architect with deep technical knowledge, he enjoys developing strong concepts into elegantly detailed buildings. As a 'Sustainable Crusader' and good steward he is passionate about creating beautiful spaces that have a positive impact on the environment, while also promoting sustainability in our daily lives—his own 1960s house is almost energy neutral. Michael James is also a bit of a coffee and chocolate snob.
