The impact of the financial crash of September 2008 on architecture was unforeseen and unprecedented. Architectural projects were about the first investments to be put on hold, and architects, along with bankers, were the first who suffered collective layoffs. The question, ‘what’s wrong with our financial system?’, could be followed by the question, ‘what’s wrong with our architecture?’
Rien ne va Plus is a research after the economic crisis and its intrincate relation to architecture. The project, initiated bij Powerhouse Company in collaboration with Hans Ibelings/A10 and NaiM/Bureau Europa consists of an exhibition (NaiM Maastricht), a reader and series of debates. The exhibition travelled to Buacherest in 2010. It was later followed by the exhibition Shifts.
